Epilogue

Broch, now a mighty Titan, returns to Zadara in Sigil. As they hold each other's hand, they look toward a portal that will bring them to Limbo, the constantly changing plane of endless possibilities. There the greatest smith of the Multiverse shall forge his true masterpiece. A Brave New World.

Surrounded by the Heroes of Legend, the triton takes his place among such as Hercules, Perseus, and Prometheus. On the highest peak of Mount Olympus, where the gods reside, the mighty Zadas drinks deep of the ambrosia, and enjoys the accolades of the adoring crowds. Yet his gaze already looks to the horizon, to the sea, and to more adventures.

One hand on the Tree of Life, Yincan whispers soft words of thanks to Daedrie, the shifter shaman that gave them strength during their final battle. But now it's time to return the favour. Lolth has gained even more power on Tyrrah, and the future looks bleak for this world. But the elven druid will be there, ready to shepherd the people of Tyrrah toward a new dream of hope.

The hunt is never over for a Mercykiller. Surveying the dark wasteland, Alexander marvels at the colossal black monolith cleaving the sky. A dark elven city on Tyrrah, a world doomed to suffer under the power of Lolth, Goddess of Death. One god is defeated, but another has now taken his place. One with limitless resources on this world. Alexander grins. A worthy challenge.

The dark elf looks upon the massive gates of R'lyeh. The god-slayer sword tied to his back hums with barely contained power. Consuming a god's soul will take centuries, maybe ages. Blackrazor is satisfied. The doors open to welcome Tarlyn, as he steps forward. He's tired of fighting, tired of gods and their struggles, tired of deals and pacts. What he seeks is solitude. Knowledge. And time. One more step forward, then the doors close behind him.

THE END

Session 79

PCs (lvl 20):
 Alexander, Broch, Tarlyn, Yincan, Zadas

The party enters Shadowthrone's inner sanctum, formerly the throne room of the Raven Queen. The god of death is surrounded by shadow demons. The time for diplomacy is long past, and battle is joined.

Shadowthrone is weakened by the loss of his coins, and by the blow received from the Bull of Vengeance, but he's still a GOD. He inflicts much pain on the PCs, with his blades of force, and his necromantic spells.

The PCs need to harness every bit of strength they have to stand a chance. When Tarlyn falls, Lolth appears to him to lend her help, in exchange of eternal servitude. The dark elf refuses this offer, and is brought back by the healing magic of his companions.

Covered in blood, Zadas fights on, stabbing Shadowthrone with Wave again and again. Broch harnesses the sliver of divinity inside of him to assume his final form, that of a mighty Titan, then proceeds to pummel his enemy with Titan's Lust. Yincan summons the power of the Seed of Life they received from the Tree of Life on Tyrrah, and she becomes a powerful angelic creature of pure sunlight. The Bull of Vengeance makes his appearance, but he cannot take physical form on another God's Realm. Not until Alexander allows him to take possession of his physical form!

The God of Death is attacked from all sides by powerful heroes and celestial creatures. Until Tarlyn raises Blackrazor one last time, and delivers the final blow to Shadowthrone. Screaming in horror, Shadowthrone's soul is devoured by the black sword.

At this point lolth makes her appearance. She demands to receive Blackrazor, so that she may leech Shadowthrone's power for herself. Realizing they have on their side a god-slaying sword, the party defies Lolth. The Bull of Vengeance supports their claim to the sword. Seething with rage, Lolth swears vengeance on the party.

Having defeated a god, and made an enemy of another, the party considers their day done. The Bull of Vengeance teleports the party to his Hall of Valor, where they can rest and witness the results of their final battle. Shadowthrone's armies around the the Multiverse dissolve into smoke, his threat averted forever more.

Session 78

PCs (lvl 20): Alexander, Broch, Tarlyn, Yincan, Zadas

The PCs return to Sigil to plan their next move. Zadara puts her palace at their disposal, to use as a base of operations. Broch raises several dead companions from the dead, to help in the fight to come.

Alexander decides to throw one last lavish party before leaving for what may well be their last battle. During the festivities, reports start to come in of attacks of shadowy creatures across the Multiverse, focused on those Planes where the PCs have some stake.

Ultimately the party decides to tackle the attack going on Arvandor, where the greatest part of Shadowthrone's forces are gathered. Armies of eladrin and celestial clash agains the demonic entities summoned by the god of death.

The PCs lead the assault, slaughtering the fiends and pushing them back to the portal they're coming from. When they destroy the most powerful fiends guarding the portal, Shadowthrone himself comes out of it! Gripped by madness, and frustrated by the party's continuous affronts, he explodes in divine rage, flattening the battlefield with radiant power.

Having directly harmed mortals in his godly form, retribution comes swiftly. A lightning bolt and a thunderous boom herald the arrival of the Bull of Vengeance himself. The minotaur smites Shadowthrone with him mighty hammer, and throws him back into the portal. Then he turns to the PCs, prompting them to enter the portal, and finish the job.

The party valiantly obliges.

Session 75

Nightwyrm Spire
PCs (lvl 20): Alexander, Broch, Tarlyn, Yincan, Zadas

The party returns to their clockwork fortress for a short time, before travelling to Sigil. There they hire a unit of guards to protect their fortress and themselves from possible retaliation. They also take the opportunity to do some shopping.

Broch uses his legend lore spell to know more about the Pool of Souls and its guardian, Urishtar the Shadow Dragon.

The PCs decide to cash in on the favor Strahd owes them, and travel to the vampire's dreams through the Dream Gate of Arvandor. When they meet the Lord of Barovia, he asks Tarlyn to give him the seven coins. He believes that he can harness the power of the coins, and become as powerful as Shadowthrone himself. The party takes the night to decide.

Tarlyn is almost about to let Fate take that decision for him, when the Spider Queen herself appears to him, and proposes a new deal. She will take the coins, in this way gaining a foothold in the Shadowfell. When the right time comes, she will assist the PCs in their battle against Shadowthrone, and she will use the Shard of Pure Evil against the god of death. The same Shard that Shadowthrone used against the Raven Queen to steal her power. In return, Lolth promises she will give Tarlyn and his companions a "piece of Limbo", the primordial chaos from which anything can be created. Even a new world. Tarlyn accepts the deal, and gives the coins to Lolth.

When the party regroups, opinions are divided about Tarlyn's decision, but it is too late to go back. Strahd keeps his promise, and accompanies the PCs to Nightwyrm Spire, the lair of Urishtar.

They come upon a magical arch, guarded by a Storm Giant Quintessent. The giantess tells the party she's no friend of Shadowthrone nor the Keeper, who usurped the mausoleum of the giant kings she swore to protect. The party convince her they share a goal, and she gives them mystical tablet that will help them avoid the magical traps placed in the mausoleum. The she allows them to pass through the arch.
