Session 60

PCs (lvl 17): Alexander, Broch, Tarlyn, Yincan

The PCs enter a massive cave, where a band of Frost Giants awaits them. They persuade the giants to let them speak with the king. When Jarl Grugnur arrives, Broch challenges him to a duel. The jarl accepts, but when he understands Broch is more than he seems, he calls for the help of his minions.

Broch slaughters the king, and makes a covenant with the queen. She wants them to kill the Fire Giant King Snurre, an ally of her late husband. She thinks that an alliance with the Fire Giants is a dishonor, but she's reluctant to oppose Snurre openly. On the hunt for more giants, the PCs readily agree.

The queen guides them to a portal that will bring them to the lair of the Fire Giants. There they infiltrate the fortress with some deception, and then face the king and his guards. Summoning mighty magic, the PCs force the king to retreat to his treasure room, guarded by an Hydra.

The party defeats this guardian, and kill the king, but only after he had activated a magical horn to summon "the help of the Stormlords". The horn blows a mighty storm inside the lair, but also seems to act as a portal to somewhere else. With more Fire Giants coming their way, the PCs decide to try their luck, and enter the portal.

Session 44

PCs (lvl 12): Alexander, Broch, Tarlyn, Yincan

The PCs encounter a couple of Stone Giant engineers, planning the expansion of the underground level of the steading. The giants seem pacific, so the party leaves without a fight.

They then explore a section of the dungeon inhabited by a tribe of bugbears. The goblinoids try to capture the PCs, but things go rapidly south for them, and they're forced to ask for the help of two Fire Giants.

When Broch kills the last of the giants, the power of his hammer awakens, and magically polymorphs the dwarf into a Fire Giant version of himself! When this happens, a portal opens up nearby, similar to those that in the past have brought them back to the Yawning Portal. Only this time, Shadowthrone's influence cannot be felt in the magic of the portal. Clearly some other power has taken an interest in the party and in their adventures...

Session 43

The Keeper
PCs (lvl 12): Alexander, Broch, Levarion, Tarlyn, Yincan

While exploring the steading the PCs meet the druid Yincan; the elf is a local hero investigating the attacks of the Hill Giants. Realizing they have a similar purpose, the party strikes an alliance with Yincan.

The PCs reach the kitchens, and using magic to turn invisible they poison several barrels of drinks. The poison they use is a magical concoction Tarlyn retrieved in the ruins of Tamoachan, and its potency puts several giants to sleep. A sleep that will last 5,000 years!

The party leaves the main floor, and descends into the dungeons. There they face a few manticores guarding what in the end reveals itself to be a fake treasuries, filled only with worthless gems.

Further ahead the party reaches a cavern inhabited by carrion crawlers and lizardfolk. They eventually retrace their steps, and meet the Keeper of the dungeons, a deformed Hill Giant. They kill the Keeper, and befriend one of his ape pets.

Session 42

PCs (lvl 12): Alexander, Broch, Levarion, Tarlyn

The party returns to the Yawning Portal to rest, when the minions of Shadowthrone attack. Three Deathpack Angels rise from the gathered crowds, assaulting the PCs. From the "well" in the middle of the tavern come out a wave of shadowy figures, rapidly spreading around the common room. Their touch has a weakening effect.

The angels battle the party, but heir main target seems to be Nuada, whom they call "the traitor". Surrounded on all sides, the monk heroically faces his doom, until he's dragged into the dark portal by his opponents.  Once Nuada disappears, the remaining angels and their shadows rapidly retreat.

During the whole battle, both the shadows and the angels have all but ignored Tarlyn. It looks like the god of death has chosen his champion.

Not long after the minions of Shadowthrone are gone, the doorway of the Yawning Portal is surrounded by dark energies, as a portal to the next coin opens up. The party does not lose time, and they enter the door.

On the other side, they find themselves in a dark cave. One figure is there waiting for them, a minotaur calling himself Prophet. The creature has a gift for Aleksander, a magical bow to help him in his battle against Shadowthrone. Prophet reveals to be a servant of the Bull of Vengeance, a supernal entity bound to punish unruly gods.

Prophet also sends them on the path to their next quest. Not too far away, hill giants have taken residence in a colossal wooden steading, and are terrorizing the surrounding lands. But their ways are too organized for such big brutes... clearly a hidden power is guiding them to conquest.

The party makes way to the steading, and infiltrate the place. Inside, they find a great number of hill giants, and their dire wolf pets. The PCs decide to remain hidden while they plan how to best get rid of so many giants.
