PCs (lvl 12): Alexander, Broch, Tarlyn, Yincan
The PCs encounter a couple of Stone Giant engineers, planning the expansion of the underground level of the steading. The giants seem pacific, so the party leaves without a fight.
They then explore a section of the dungeon inhabited by a tribe of bugbears. The goblinoids try to capture the PCs, but things go rapidly south for them, and they're forced to ask for the help of two Fire Giants.
When Broch kills the last of the giants, the power of his hammer awakens, and magically polymorphs the dwarf into a Fire Giant version of himself! When this happens, a portal opens up nearby, similar to those that in the past have brought them back to the Yawning Portal. Only this time, Shadowthrone's influence cannot be felt in the magic of the portal. Clearly some other power has taken an interest in the party and in their adventures...
