The party is just recovering from their rest when a stranger makes his entrance from the nearby stairs. This is Nuada, a shadar-kai traveller from Sigil, arrived through a magical portal to complete a quest similar to those of the PCs. After some introductions Nuada joins the party, and together they descend the grand stairs.
They find themselves in a complex of natural caves illuminated by fluorescent lichens, and inhabited by stirges and wild troglodytes. An underground river crosses many of the caves, eventually discharging into a waterfall. With little interest for the savage creatures inhabiting this place, the PCs look for a way further down. Ella decides to jump down the waterfall, while the others find a set of stairs.
The PCs reunite in the lower level, where they find more natural caves, but also the presence of worked stone and dwarven-made structures. They inspect the abandoned storerooms, finding nothing of worth, except a few hungry gray oozes.
